Veterans Fund Raiser
Dear Brett: What a guy you are! Almost unbelievable—-$67,042.00 dollars raised in one short day. The first van (10 years ago) – 20001 – took 8 months, 6 days to raise $23,095.00. They had watermelon sales, used clothes sales, and several other types of raisers for the first van. Your ability to get things done so quickly is outstanding and remarkable. I am proud to be associated with you in this charitable cause. The event was outstanding and everything went off just fine. The cooking crews did a great job and fed a lot of people. The Kids enjoyed their fishing time and their rewards and your seminar on Sword fishing seemed to go great! Our silent and active auctions far out numbered my expectations, and we are so grateful and thankful. As the DAV Chapter 72 Commander and the Director of the Van transportation Program, I receive no compensation. The only two paid people are the two Van Drivers, one of which is the Van Coordinator. Everyday Heroes, Inc. funds DAV Chapter 72. The current 2010-2011 budget is $49,400.00, which is all devoted to Veterans with the exception of the two paid drivers. The VA wants them to have a new van after 100,000 miles, the present van has 102,300 miles on it. The present van is an 11 passenger van. It is the hopes and desires of the van program to get a small bus with individual seats for their next vehicle. Brett, you mentioned this event will be an annual affair. I truly hope so and stand ready to assist in any and all ways possible. Your friend, J. Fisk.
